About the Herb:
Yarrow could be its own medicine cabinet, and if ever there was a herb to be on a desert island with, this is it. It is used to treat fever, common cold, hay fever, and is a great diaphoretic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory. It is also used for menstrual irregularities like cramping, lack of or too much bleeding, and nervous tension. Yarrow's astringent properties make it suitable for dysentery and diarrhea, and its carminative properties treat gas and bloating. Yarrow makes a great companion to other herbs that treat heart related conditions like high blood pressure, having a beneficial effect on blood vessels and improving cardiac function. It is also antiseptic for conditions like wounds, urinary tract infections, and helps to heal tissues. The fresh yarrow plant can even be ground up and used to stop bleeding.
